Converting Music into Space

Converting music into space means translating a time-based experience into a spatial one.  Music normally unfolds through time: you hear one note after another.  Transposing Music into Space means representing musical elements as positions, shapes and structures. Relationships can be seen, built, or experienced spatially.

Melody a path or line through a building
Rhythm repeated columns, windows, or lights
Harmony overlapping rooms or layers
Volume (loud/soft) large versus small, bright versus dim
